Over the years since Army of Me was originally released in 1995 on Post, Björk
has consistently been sent fan re-mixes and cover versions done by other artists
of the song. Inspired no doubt by the growling techno-metal of the original,
and the eclectic mixes that featured on the original singles. The mixes and
cover versions have ranged through from hi-energy to death-metal.
These versions of the song have been gathering dust, in the corner of a hard
drive or not so seedy office. Now is time to make these mixes and cover versions
shake off the dust, and start to create some action. The decision has been made
to to release these mixes and cover versions on a 2-CD album in order to help
raise funds for charity.
We know there there
are more mixes and cover versions out there to complete the album. Help us to
complete by submitting your cover version or remix. Submissions are therefore
invited from musicians working in all genres worldwide. Now is time for collaboration.
The deadline we are working towards is January 17th as Björk and One
Little Indian want to release the album at the end of February. All submissions
must be encoded to 128kbs mp3 and posted to bjorkremixes@gmail.com. Every version
submitted will be listened to, and the final trackslisting will be drawn from
new and old versions.
What to do:
1. Email remix or cover version to bjorkremixes@gmail.com
2. Include in the email, name of act and contact details: phone and address.
3. Name of mix in subject line of email
4. Make sure track is 128kbs mp3
Please only submit your own work! Now is the time to make a storming new Army
of Me record for Charity.
